Sorenson's is a second generation family owned school with over 30 years experience helping troubled teens. They were one of the first programs to combine therapy, experiential learning, academics and behavioral modification to help troubled teens.

Low self esteem, depression, anxiety,  PTSD, or reactive attachment disorder (RAD.) can all to problems in school, substance abuse and out of control behavior.

The clinical department at Sorenson's uniquely includes both mental health therapists and specially trained substance abuse counselors. Mental health as well as substance abuse issues are addressed in group and individual settings, as part of the overall treatment plan. In this first episode, Shane Sorenson, co-owner and director of Sorenson's Ranch School, gives a welcome message and introduction to Sorensons.

Established in 1959, Sorenson’s Ranch School is located in central Utah and offers programs for students with a history of problems with substance abuse, low self-esteem, running away, reactive attachment disorder and other behavioral issues. Best known for its horse ranch and equine training program, Sorenson’s attracts students from around the country and implements a mastery-based learning program, requiring students to master fundamental curriculum before proceeding to new material.

Sorenson’s is licensed by the State of Utah as a residential treatment and substance abuse center and accredited by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Operating for the past 30 years, the school is regarded as one of the nation’s premier programs for troubled teens.
